Body Size and Redundancy: Across System Comparisons
(A SIZEMIC Working Group organised by Owen Petchey and Ute Jacob)

This is a 2-year working group funding by ESF via SIZEMIC. Its goal is to assess the significance of body size for defining the pattern of trophic redundancy and subsequently the effects on community robustness using a range of food webs across several types of ecosystem (proposal document).

This working group currently has 19 members from six countries. However, membership is open to anyone who can contribute to the proposed science. Please contact Ute if you think you can.

What is SIZEMIC?
It’s a 4-year ESF funded research network the goals of:
  • Synthesising size-based and species-based ecological research.
  • Provide a focus and mechanism for interaction across existing research boundaries.
  • Create training opportunities for young scientists.
